GCU

So...did anyone watch the game?
It was tough to watch...our bench stinks.  Damonte isn't providing much...the two freshman, Hamlin and BBV or whatever his name is, were terrible.
Kofi and Feliz are leading us right now.  Ayo I would think will step up on the big stage against Zona, but we need he and Trent to get something going.  They didn't do much.
GCU has one heck of a place and environment to play in.  Very cool arena...packed and loud.  Nice win overall but concerning they couldn't put it away.

I watched the game, as well as the game last nite against Arizona.  We played well and I felt that GCU was hitting shots which kept the game close, but when we got the lead, we kept it throughout.  Kofi ruled the paint and that truly was the difference in the game.  GCU has a freshman pg named Blackshear who is really good and basically did what he wanted.

We came out hot against UofA but Az is just more solid and intense on both sides of the ball.  Their defense was smothering and it seemed like they won the battle for loose balls.  We were pretty close to even at halftime.  The 2nd half wasn't pretty.  Like last year, we go through lulls where the opponent will score 3 or 4 quick baskets in a row and go up.  We fought back a couple times but eventually the wheels came off and the game was over.  Az has a red hair'd white kid that can really play.  I thought I was watching Larry Bird for a minute, quick off the dribble and made about every running shot he took.  I think his name is Mannon.  I seen the Kipper of old a little in this game.  It would sure help if he can build upon that.  Kofi did somewhat ok, but Giorgi, though he hit a 3 ball at the beginning of the game, had a bad nite.

It looks like we will depend on Allan Griffin alot this year and I like him as an option.  He does everything Williams can do, and he shoots quite a bit better.  Our perimeter defense needs to get a whole lot better and we are not a good passing team on offense.  Our bigs will get in foul trouble so we really need Kipper to play mean.  I was hoping that the Euro kid would be good, but since the exhibition, he has looked lost out there.  Of course, Trent, Ayo, and Feliz need to bring it every nite.

I thought we could have hung in there a bit better in the 2nd half..but yeah that's a tough place to play.
Kofi will be solid but gotta remember he's a freshman.
Bench other than Griffin has been awful...just awful.
Let's hope we can get the BBV kid going...I was hoping he'd be another Giorgi...speaking of him, he needs to get going...not playing well at all.
Need more out of Ayo as well if we're going to take the next step.
