Hawks win lottery jump from 12th to 3rd in draft

wonder if the league threw us a bone 2 straight years of Chicago out of the playoffs aint good for ratings lol

this is actually really good news, this is a top heavy draft, Hawks are going to have the pick of a really good center, or the top D man in this draft.

Thankfully, at least in hockey, our front office is fairly good at scouting talent...navigating a salary cap on the other hand...

Yeah if this team is in the same spot as last 2 years this time next season,  and Bowman still isn't gone then shame on the entire organization for becoming what it was before Rocky took over.  That guy better have a hell of a plan for this off season and it better work, or he damn well should be gone. excuse time is over, IMO it should have been over this season.  he pointed the blame at the coach and it clearly was the roster. drafting has been decent, but roster moves and trades have not over the long term.

If Byram is there at 3 they HAVE to take him. don't get cute, you take the best player available.

I dont really like the idea of taking Turcotte, hes a local kid, Hawks have not had the best of luck with local products that have been fans of late. See (Hartman, Hinostroza,Schmaltz) too much pressure to replicate the last decade of success the Hawks have had that they all saw growing up as kids, and I think it adds too much pressure.

Draft tomorrow...huge day for this franchise. lots of rumors swirling around. I hope the pick is Byram, i'm not really sold on either of the center options that will be there. Byram will be THE best available at 3, assuming 1 and 2 go down as predicted. Byram gives them an almost for certain great defensive core moving forward in the next 2-3 years. if they want to compete again with Kane and Toews this is a must...and forwards are easier to find then D in the NHL right now

Well in typical Stan Bowman fashion, he screwed it up...took the 4th or 5th best rated prospect at #3  Kirby Dach...Dach is not a "bad prospect" per say, hes just not Byram, and he was not THE best available at #3.

The Avalanche were celebrating, they took about a minute to snatch up Byram with the next pick. So A playoff team in the Hawks very own division got to add a future Norris trophy candidate to their roster this last weekend. most scouts think he can play, this year hes that polished and good already.

If Jokiharju is not on this roster full time next season then, and Boqvist and Beaudin dont end up living up to the hype then shame on everybody involved in the decision on passing up on this kid.  All weekend long I had to hear uninformed and clueless Hawks fans rant and rave about how "they already had defensmen coming up" and assuming they will all work out apparently, because every prospect ends up working out here right??  They sent Jokiharju back down last year after half a season, on a team inept of defense and that was in the playoff hunt up until the final weeks!! that's somewhat of a red flag.. Also if Boqvist and Beaudin are "all that" how is it they never even got a sniff last season, again on a team that was one of the WORST in the league on the back end. It makes ZERO sense to have the #3 pick and NOT take best available, especially when you really don't know yet what you have back there with any of these younger prospects

I fear this is yet another terrible move in a string of terrible moves by the GM of this organization. Every Hawks fan better start praying all 3 of these guys pan out, or there is some mystery D man in the system nobody has heard about that turns into the next Keith and Seabrook, because if they dont this team is in trouble on the blue line for years to come and we will all have Stan thank for it
