Hawks Fired Q
« on: November 06, 2018, 10:51:57 AM »
and it should have been Bowman...

must be nice to not have to take any responsibility for your failure and blame everybody else. the demise of this organization continues thanks to the cancer within it that is Stan Bowman

This will end up being one of the biggest black eyes for this organization for years to come. Stan Bowman is the one that needed to go,  whats even more sad is that everybody knows it. Every former player, almost every beat writer, every fan commenting today across social media and on the radio is echoing it.

It's clear the Hawks just lost one of the best coaches in the league and one of the most respected men in hockey. Stan Bowman has seemingly rode the coattails and legacy of his father Scotty here for years, he has had very little to hang his hat on. Most of the imprint of the 3 cups this team won were more to the credit of things Dale Tallon did before him.

Bowman CAN take credit for neglecting and destroying the defensive depth and future of this team for years. He's handed out ridiculous over paid contracts paying players on past performance and also no trade clauses like they are candy. That all resulted in the inability to keep younger more talented players in the mix. He let a solid 1st round draft pick walk and sign with another franchise, he traded pick after pick prospect after prospect with very little of those moves panning out. Yet somehow its the coaches fault that team depth has been destroyed and team performance is lacking. Hawks had 3 cups to their name as a franchise before Quenneville got here, now he's gone and the man responsible for the roster gets to stay.

It's a comical and ridiculously political move that will only result in further set back. As a life long Hawks fan i'm completely disgusted with this and how this organization is handling itself. This feels like a move the old "Dollar Bill" regime would have made. Whats next home games no longer on TV again?

What's sad is the midseason firing of a coach who has done so much for you.  This feels kinda like the Bobby Bowden situation at FSU.  The dude put your team back on the map, give him the dignity to go out on his own terms.

new "coach" Jeremy Colliton is the same age as Brent Seabrook 33. They actually played together on a team once..smh..

Hawks have gone from One Goal to No Goal.... some 33 year old wide eyed kid is gonna command a locker room  of players he either used to play with, some even older than him, and a core group of guys that have won 3 cups already??  LMAO...what a joke!

I may boycott the rest of the season this is going to turn into a complete shit show

I agree that Bowman has made terrible trades due to terrible signings. It's important to remember that Q is not some innocent bystander in all this. Q played favorites, and had a real hard time working young guys into his rotations. Leddy, Tevo, Morin,Murphy, and others were dogged by Q, and in the case of Morin, ruined. His power play and penalty kill team has been brutal for the last year and a half, and he was too stubborn to change. It was Q, more than anyone, who pushed for the Saad-Panarin trade. Bowman will be gone soon enough, and Q will get his pick of jobs, but Q is not without blame. Finally, the NHL screwed the Hawks. The hard cap is ridiculous. Their stance on Hossa was ridiculous. You accumulate great talent and you  are  punished for it.

it amazes me that there are still some fans left that blame this on Quenneville LOL

Bowmans draft history 2009- 2015 ( leave out the last 3 years since those players could still potentially make it) 14,13 &12 were complete bust drafts for this organization, these should have been the seeding years to replace guys like Seabrook and Keith. He had 2 first rounders in 2011, neither panned out here, the only guy still left from that years draft here is Saad and his performance since coming back has been questionable at best. The only guy in the 2010 draft that panned out, he let walk to the Rangers. 2009 complete bust as well with the exception of Kruger. FYI - The last goaltender drafted by this team that panned out and made it to the league was Corey Crawford in 2003... its all right here in black and white to see https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CHI/draft.html

this doesn't even take into account all the failed trades this guy has made over the years
