The team fought hard and stayed in the game despite the huge foul call difference. Need more bigs
Yep, I just can't state strongly enough how i love the grit, hard work and attitude of this team. We are going to be so dangerous in a month if LB is okay. To have a good shot to win that game in the face of that huge foul discrepency speaks volumes to me about these kids.

On to my not so enthusiastic take on the team - Again, I know I am a broken record, but Finke just has to be better. No excuses anymore from him, he simply has to be the leader of this team and in the score book. He has to consistently hit open shots and score 17-25 a game. He has that ability but for whatever reason misses wide open shots against power teams when he would make the same wide open shot against the mid major teams we have played.

That being said, even with our slow and stupid starts I still love watching this team. Holy cow Mark, Monte and Trent are going to be quite possibly the best back court in the country (next year or thereafter) ....and Ayo is going to make the back court even better.

We are getting an OV from Flo Thamba this coming weekend and he is described as a banger. We made his final four along with VT, Nebraska and Baylor. I have a feeling that is between us and VT since he is from Virginia. I hope he is watching us and sees how good we are going to be and how Brad will do everything in his power to get him to the next level.

We lost to a very athletic UNLV team in their backyard ... and made it competitive without Black, our only 'Big'

UNLV has lost twice, both times in OT, and one loss was to Arizona. New-style refs seem to hate our style.

*** Who's heard of Jovan Mooring from Hillcrest (IL) HS? These nonrecruited instate guys always go off on us :blush1:

Is it just me, or does this team remind me of the 1998-1999 team? That was Cory Bradford's freshman year (I think) and they advanced to the B10 Tournament final losing to a 1 seed, Michigan State. But they had a losing record so that was it for them.

I was on campus then and we all knew that better things were ahead. This feels kind of the same way.

Interesting analogy that I honestly hadn't thought about. I do think that a month from now this team is going to be clicking and will make a very strong run in the B1G tourney come March.

Wow- kinda reminds me of the tourney game (2006, 2007?) where we lost to Washington because they shot so many more free throws than us. You just cant hardly win a game like this. And its difficult to say '1 sided' but both teams were aggressive, both teams drove the lane, and there were a lot of ticky tack fouls. I think Malcolm is right- the Chicago Public league plays a more hardnose bball than the Big10.. and its not even close.

This was an impressive game by our freshman. I thought Trent really played well on both sides of the ball for the very first time. We are in games because we are solid at pg. Mark Smith is a very good offensive player. He is not quick enough to guard at the 1, 2 or 3 position right now, but not many freshman are to be honest. Chet Frazier was a great defensive player, but not as a freshman. Williams, on the other hand, is solid in all phases. Eboigbodin can give minutes at the 4.

Nichols did very little offensively, but did most of the grunt work under the boards against their big guys. I thought Finke had a decent game. They were long in the middle and the foul situation took away almost any aggressiveness inside. Black had a bad 1st half, makes me wonder how long he was actually injured. Alstork?? Jordan- what an improvement over last year. Because of our weakness inside defensively, we need great games by our veterans to win.

I watched ASU take down KU and the guard play was pretty amazing. If our guards can mature into what I saw in that game, we will be amazing .

Gotta laugh about ASU - the ultimate party school! It would be a fun school to attend if you were a trust fund kid

And from Dumb and Dumber, another shot at ASU
