we get a b+ for Wendell Carter and an a for chandler hutchinson, whatever that means... don't know much about these kid, but have heard good things. thought Carter would go higher than 7 honestly, and have no idea about hutchinson but apparently he's a scorer. I actually think we've done pretty well the last two drafts. obviously, we're not contending this year. but only a small handful of teams will be. we just need to lay the foundation for next year and beyond. I'd take a year like the 2016 celtics or 76ers. not great, but showing promise and potential. next summer is a pretty big free agent class. if Carter turns out to be a player, markennen, Dunn, and lavine progress nominally we could be an interesting team/ destination in 2019-2020. we'll have the cap room to sign (I think) two max contracts. previously, I had been in the camp of wanting to keep rose, butler, taj, everyone else to be able to lose to Lebron in the conference finals (hopefully). but I have to admit, it's exciting to be in the process of building something from the ground up, that could hopefully do more than that; like compete for titles! we're a long way from that, but at least now that seems like a long term possibility

Not sure how he fits in a up tempo 3pt shooting style.

I dont like this pick but what do i know
kinda feel the same way, but i think we definitely needed a big man. i think we would’ve been better off trading back. that being said, i wasn’t thrilled with the markennen pick last year, but that turned out pretty good!🤷‍♂️

They never officially graduate until they officially graduate.  HS Seniors sitting the stands with parents in prepaid cap and gown (NOT on stage with classmates) are becoming more common in CA.

Quentin Watkins or whatever his name was from LA (Jeff Jordans summer roommate) became ineligible in August when the results from his California HS 'exit exam' came up short - to 8th grade standards in English or Math.  He ended up transferring out and playing ball at San Diego State.

Glad to hear Kane didn't blow off his last semester
.  Many HS have ONE 'counselor' to help hundreds of SR grads, whose salary is often paid for by grants ... the system being literally broke on multiple levels  :yuk:

Semba clearly got lost in FLA's system - the NCAA and his HS district SHOULD let him take an approved course remotely on computer. That's the right course and the one Whitman should be pursuing ... Sign him up for HS keyboarding!!!

we get 8 in august and then we accrue from there. I get your point, it was still stupid to use them all, agreed. But going forward won't be an issue unless we are really dumb again. I can't foresee 8 new guys on the roster next year, hopefully 3.

I understand why it happened, but I disagree.  Running out of OV should never happen, IMO.  And we only get 8 come August - that's not enough.  I know we're recruiting a lot of local kids - which helps a lot.  But what if we have high roster turnover again next year?

I agree - get the 2019 guys (Whitney, Shannon, Liddell) and we're in great shape.  I think the '19 class is the springboard for this program.  Gotta get those guys and focus on '20.
