Nebraska Illinois preview and predictions
« on: February 17, 2012, 05:52:19 PM »
Does the Final Nail await? Will Nebraska, with it's vaunted F+ offense, prevail over the Chuckin' Illini

http://www.marchpool.com/statistics/ncaastatscompare/69?teamtwo=125&year=2012

I think it comes down to whether or not the players hold a real meeting and hold each other accountable

NEBRASKA 60
ILLINOIS ??? (just don't know where this team's head is, assuming it's not where its been lately)

Diaz is out, so they have nobody who should be able to handle Leonard. But neither did Penn St, NW, Michigan or Purdue.

Don't know what state of mind the team is in. There have been plenty of games that should have been wake up calls, plenty of chances to step up and yet performance remains erratic.

I just hope the guys have more confidence than the fan base does - but I'm not sure how they could.

You know, what would be awesome is if we win, no matter the fashion or the score, for this game, and every other win until the whole season is over, if people on this board could find it within themselves to just post positive things without disclaimers and keep all the negative remarks to themselves.

Every other win this season has been pretty much 50/50 balance of positive though with negative disclaimer, or just plain negative.

Maybe we have done our share of beating this group up and tearing down/apart every little fascit of every game. Maybe it can just be time to either say something nice or just keep I to yourself.

Now that would be awesome.

If they lose, have at it. But IMO it would just be a very welcome thing to actually see a post game WINNING thread that actually had nothing but good things to say.

I don't think this is unreasonable, and it we expect these players and staff to stop on a dime, make the needed changes, and get it done, maybe we could share the responsibility with them.

But Musson, look back at the OSU thread. People acknowledged it was an outlier game for BP3...and that was spot on. Some people were talking big ten champions...how do those people feel now? I'll always be a realist, but I usually don't post much negative stuff. I let others fight that battle...

We have not had a double digit win in over two months so once again, we will play to the level of the competition and lose 54-52. I hope the Phil Reverse Curse works here. A loss to the Children of the Corn would be hard for MT to swallow. I will make a Hot Sports Opinion. If we lose and look dreadful, I could see MT making the move on Sunday. I hope not, but just a thought.

There is absolutely no way that MT fires Weber before the season is over. Baring Weber going all Bob Knight and throwing chairs across the court.

Doing so is just throwing the rest of this season away. Even if they were to lose they're still going to make the NIT and likely be inline to host a game or two. And if you think a AD facing a second big time buyout is going to pass up any additional revenue your nuts.

I get we're all peeved about the way the season and past seasons have gone. But Weber also led our favorite program to one of the best seasons we've been fortunate enough to see. I think we should also have the respect to let him finish the season out trying to earn as many wins as possible.

(Raises Hand)

I was one who though the OSU win at least propelled us to top 4 in league. Didnt see losing 7 of 8 coming.

If we play good or bad, I'll say we play good or bad. Just reality not negativity or nut hugging :icon_biggrin:

If we look lackadaisical and look like we've quit, yes, I could easily see that. I don't expect us to do that, this team does show heart, but if we lay another 42-41 egg and like blow a lead in the second half, MT may have to play his hand. I hope we mop the floor with them. I hate Brasky, but they have nothing to lose and we are on a losing streak. Not a good combination.
