Chasson Randle
« on: February 16, 2012, 09:07:06 AM »

By all accounts, Chasson Randle was a big Illini fan growing up AND he really likes Bruce.  I wonder if he regrets his decision right now.  Not saying he would change it, just wonder if he has regret.

Randall is doing just fine at Stanford. He's actually PLAYING.

I know he's doing fine.  That wasn't my point.  I was just wondering if he realizes his "friend" Bruce is about to get axed and maybe he could have helped prevent that.  Like I said - I don't think he's sitting in his dorm room thinking "I should have gone to Illinois," just that there might be some feelings of regret.

I think BYS' point was... he WOULDN'T be playing at Illinois due to Weber's apparent inability to recognize when a freshman should be playing.

With Chasson, we have no Sam.  With no Sam, Bruce would have had to play a freshman at point - I really like Abrams, but Randle was much further along as a point coming out of high school.  I just think this has probably crossed the kid's mind.  That is all, done with it.

And, the original post said this is not a bash Weber thread, so I'm not getting into the "Bruce won't play the young talent issue" here.

I hear ya.  I don't think I was bashing Weber.  Just trying to explain how I percieved BYS' comment.  I would have loved to see him come here.  He's averaging 29 mins and 12 points a game at Standford.  We certainly could have used that production here, especially at the PG position.

I like Abrams better and if we had taken Lew Jack this would be a non issue

Randle wanted to go to Stanford, wants to be a doctor or something, right? More power to the kid hope he does well

Yes he went there to study Neurosurgery...

and hes getting a TON of PT because hes the best recruit on their entire team, probably the best they have gotten in years...that would not be the case if he came here
