Does anyone know how much Marshall, Smart, Cronin, Romar, and Grant make?

(Admittedly too lazy to look it up myself.)

I'm gonna assume Grant makes the most and Marshall the least

I only put Grant on there since Player likes him so much

Hawk one other factor that people forget is money

Illinois will pay a hoops coach close to 2 million (or more). That is top 20 in terms of pay in 300+ schools. Money alone will drive guys to look. We are all greedy bastages after all  :icon_biggrin:

will they pay that much though after a 2.8 Mil buyout for Zook, plus Beckmans pay....plus a 4 million buyout for Bruce?

If they cant then we are gonna get an assistant you never heard of and the chances of a longer rebuild are higher as you stated

Not sure rebuild is the correct terminology.  I think we have a lot of talent but a coach who has no clue what to do with it.

Flight I only say rebuild IF we lose guys to transfers and NBA if my point was unclear, is what I meant

otherwise I agree we have a nice cupboard with talent, on paper

And the buy out for Law, the buy IN for he new guy, and the buyouts for all the assistants.

You have about a 7-8 million dollar turn around. That's a TON of money.

he keeps Law for another year

there was a tweet (apologize for not remembering which writer it was, Klee, Tupper, one of em)  about the 3.9 mil for BW buyout as being a non factor in a decision, that supposedly "Big Donors" would pick it up. FWIW I would believe it when it happens lol

Smart is at 1.2 mil per.  And I think Anthony Grant is at 2mil per.  So he's already getting a hefty check.

yeah I am totally assuming Grant is not the guy.

So Smart at 1.2, we give him a promotion and an extra 800K he runs here as fast as he can if there are no better offers, doesnt he? he's a chicago guy not a virginia guy

Yep Smart grew up in the Midwest.  To me he's looking like the best possible candidate.  He think he can also give the program a jolt of excitement.  He made a great run last year.  Plays an exciting type of ball and his style will fit with he glut of athlete combo guards we have.

Ugh, this article pisses me off so much.  So what that the UofI isn't in a big city??  It's not like Kansas or Indiana is in a great location either.
