pretty cool finish for your team...nice to be on the good end of that. I agree refs got it right too...good for your hometown boys.
My boy's 5th grade team got eliminated last night in their last tourney of the year...they came back and tied the game with a minute to go, went down by 2 then my son stole it with about 5 seconds on the clock and drove to about 16 feet away and missed at the buzzer...he was inconsolable.
I gotta love his passion for the game at such a young age and reassured him he'd get plenty of chances like that.
ya that is hard on them when they miss the game winning shot, but as you say he will get more shots...my son plays on the JV team (should have played up this year on varsity, but oh well). He was sick 2.5 days last week with a nasty infection, so in the game last Friday he didn't get to play until 4 minutes to go in 3rd quarter (he is best player on team and always starts). They were down 15 and he lead them all the way back to even, but ended up losing by four in the end(on the road). Last night he also hit the winning free throws in the JV game, even though it wasn't quite as dramatic of an ending as varsity it was still cool.
BTW, check out the Rasta looking kid in the video who is jawing at the ref.....that freaking kid is a freshman who was lightning quick and was drilling 3's from 25 feet with the kid who hit game winning free throws in his grill....that kid is a player.
Ha yeah I saw that kid...sounds pretty good for a freshman especially. Hank Thomas is his name and he scored 26 points......can't be more than 5"10 at max, but quick and I have never seen anybody just absolutely drain contested shots from everywhere on the court....he will be playing D1 ball somewhere.
My boy scored 24 out of 32 last night..and he's the pg...
he really does a good job distrbuting for his age...but he's so quick, he can get to the rim pretty easy and finishes well...gotta keep in mind we live in a class A district so we play all small schools..he'd prob learn some tough lessons if he'd play against kids from bigger schools.
Hope your boy stays healthy...this winter has been horrible for sickness...didn't get enough freezes this year and germs are like rampant.
Ya...were small school as well...2A in football and 1A in basketball. Peoria Heights is a small school too.
Collin is similar to your boy, but as a very young sophomore.
