agre hawk, perennial top 25 program is all I EXPECT everything above that is gravy to me. We are not going to be Kentucky or UNC but we should be able to be Missouri, Wisconsin, Butler, Gonzaga, etc...

And a year like 2005 once a decade  :icon_biggrin:
As much talent we have in the state, there is no reason why we cannot be a Top 25 team every year.  I dont think that is two much to ask.

funny you mention that...because there seems to be 2 kinds of Illini fans these days....A2005 and B2005

(A) meaning after the 2005 season results, fans...and (B) before 2005 season results, fans

the years before 2005 were 10x times better than the years after. We were winning B10 titles, earning number 1 seeds, etc. Now we consider it a great success if we beat UNLV in the 1st round.

Who really has the skewed expectations?

2005 was a build up over the previous 6-7 years. Anyone that expects 2005 to ever be the norm is delusional. It was probably one of the best seasons ever for a team that did not win the title.

But, just as that season is not the norm, neither are the last 4-5 seasons.
