On paper, I can always convince myself that the talent is there to contend among college basketball's elite, even if it's obviously foolish to expect it.

Defense is an absolute joke right now. Not sure why we were switching that high pick and roll early on. Lewjack got a couple easy ones becasue of that.

Paul and Bertrand playing well. Need SOMETHING from ML and DJ.

I went to the game tonight.   Again, this only went to reinforce my decision to make this my last as a season ticket holder.  The bright spot(s) Abrams came to play, and figured out the only way to have a chance in this game was to drive to the basket, and he was effective at it.  Bertrand was fairly aggressive as well, and had an enormous dunk.

Not much else to write home about.

The BIGGEST thing was, this was the WORST attendance for a Big Ten game I have seen in a few years.  It was bad, 8pm tip off games had better attendance than tonight.  C Section was "maybe" 2/3rds full, and that's being generous.  Lots of empties in A as well.

The fans appear to have given up.

Too bad. I think excitement can come back. Look what Lin is doing for the Knicks. Changes I am sure are in the works.

I think you are right, misterp.  Changes, even simple ones, can have a very positive impact on the fortunes of a program.

I have heard from a friend who posts/reads another Illinois board (not sure which one), but claims that there is supposed solid knowledge that both Lorenzo Romar and Shaka Smart have been contacted just to get the feelers out.

Come on now.....What AD would contact another teams coach in the middle of the season.....i think it might be against NCAA regulations
