I'd say not viable at all unless you have some reason to believe the university has reversed their direction on their policy of staying as far away from the Chief as possible.

Still really like the matte blue helmet with the I, though. It's simpler, which we need, and it's slick, which we also need. Make it happen TB. New regime, new helmets, makes sense to me.

I like the feather helmet, but no chance it gets approved and honestly I don't think it will look as cool when it is part of the entire outfit....alone it looks great, but too busy for me with overall uni.

I like the Blue Helmet as well...not sure about the I, but love that color scheme

Does anyone know how the NCAA rulling on Chief Illiniwek read?  Does it say "no representations of any kind to Indian culture, or the race"?

As far as I know, the NCAA never ruled specifically on Chief Illiniwek. They just ruled that any school (which included Illinois, at the time) using 'hostile and offensive' Native American logos/nicknames/mascots would be prohibited from using them in postseason tournaments (i.e. March Madness). The school would also be prohibited from hosting any postseason tournaments. The decision to remove the Chief and the logo both came from UI itself.

Ok, so I can't see that a headdress would be considered hostile or offensive.

I think we sort of meant the helmet was cool as in like giving the finger to the NCAA not necessarily wearing it :)   Maybe a mascot type thing

Not me Phil... I think the helmet would be awesome as the team's helmet.  I love the design.  the matte blue is nice, but it needs something other than the block I, or ILLINI.   Gotta be something different, fresh, and cool.

i believe that to be true as well..and IMO, not a snowball's chance that the administration would man up now when they caved earlier.

Me too, I think the look would be great.

Plus, it couldn't look worse than 85% of Oregon's combinations (some of those are, ugh).
