Paterno has passed away.  Being announced by multiple sources.

EDIT:
Mark Viera @markcviera

Dan McGinn, the Paterno family spokesman, at 8:57 p.m. on reports about Joe Paterno's death: "Absolutely not true."

BTN just announced that he has NOT passed away.  His family is strongly denying it.

Regardless, this whole nasty situation has hit him hard.

well if he had cancer which was diagnosed right after the incident, he probably was going to be in bad shape either way. Its a shame he ruined his legacy, it just would have taken one moment of being human and he would have been a saint. Shame. Yeah this he's dead he's not stuff is a disgrace by the media too

Well the guy that started the whole thing from Onward State resigned last night when he found out his report was erroneous.  Which was surprising.  So at least he had integrity.
