Position is determined by who you can guard, not what you do on the offensive end. Shaw is definitely a 4. Griffey is position-less. Hes not quick enough to gaurd 3's on the perimeter and not strong enough to battle 4's down low.
I think he was doing a pretty nice job guarding the 3 against Purdue, and he's better inside then you give him credit for.
Just look at the rebounding numbers. Playing defense doesn't end when the shot goes up. He has 37 defensive rebounds this season. That's 2.5 a game. In retrospect, Shaw has 24 defense rebounds in a lot less minutes (122 mins vs 315 mins). Griff Just doesn't cut it from the 4 position.
And I like the kid, too. Just hasn't worked.
So you are suggesting that playing Bertrand at the 4 position will generate more defensive rebounds.. because it isnt Shaw
that Weber is playing, hes going small. But you are right Tyler isnt a great rebounder and I dont think he ever will be. Still, he
needs to improve. Lets face it though- Meyers is this years Davis when it comes to rebounds and our guards board well.
You say it just hasnt worked. He averaged 2 min/gm last year and was up near 10 ppg in out of conf games, how bout givin
the kid a break.
