When the run started, we should have been up by 12-15 points...we did a poor job of preparation for this game IMO...at the start of the game, we looked listless and PU looked worse...but we didn't do anything with it...however when the run started, yeah the guys made some dumb mistakes for sure...at what point do you wonder how well we were prepared?  When do you finally realize Painter is 9-4 against BW...?  We didn't just get beat, we were embarassed....15 points was nowhere near how bad we were getting beat when their bench was smoking our go-to guys.  I think BW doesn't have too much control over this team right now...it sure seemed like everything was completely out of whack Saturday.  I hope that game was the worst...but who knows, it seems to be heading south and there are several instances of players seeming pretty unhappy.  I hope that's all being overblown....and I would imagine to an extent it is.
Regardless, this team has plenty of talent..really, too much to play the way we have been playing.  I really hope we can pick up a couple of wins in a row and get everyone on the same page again.  If not, I'm afraid it's going to get pretty ugly as the season moves on.
I think the game plan was to get Meyers moretouches on the block, but Meyers was getting pushed around.  We have also been successful as of late dribbling into the lane for a 10 footer.  Sammy wasnt able to do much against the quicker jackson.  Yeah, we werent great on offense, but Purdue wasnt either so to say we should have been up by 15 at Purdue is kinda crazy talk.  What it looked like to me was we were playing well.  Meyers got a couple penalties and we melted down.  It was a game that before theseason started, I would have marked as a loss, though am a bit disappointed at our offense.

Were going to struggle because we havent had a guy emerge as the pg we desire.  I dont blame Weber- he brought in 3 guards in DJ,BP, and Bert.  Now Sammy, but it appears his ankle is going to cause probs.  We have to give some of the young guys time to be more of a factor.  I really like Abrams, but hes a year away from being a factor offensively.  We needed either Head or Bert to emerge and Bert has.  Now Grif needs to reassert himself and Weber needs to stand with him.  This team is sitting in good shape right now compared to where we could be.  And when Mike Henry figures it out- I think our offensive woes will be over- but will it be this year or next?
I don't think it's crazy talk at all considering we were up by 8 anyway.  Purdue wasn't doing much at all to start the game but we weren't either.  If Myke Henry doesn't play much more this year, I'd be a little worried about whether or not he comes back.  People have been talking about him being frustrated.  Let's hope he hangs in there.

Terrible game... got it handed to us on both ends... Mackey has always been a difficult place for us to play.  I wonder what our record is there over the last 25 years?  I'll bet it's not pretty.

...anyway, on to NW!

Position is determined by who you can guard, not what you do on the offensive end. Shaw is definitely a 4. Griffey is position-less. Hes not quick enough to gaurd 3's on the perimeter and not strong enough to battle 4's down low.
I think he was doing a pretty nice job guarding the 3 against Purdue, and he's better inside then you give him credit for.

Just look at the rebounding numbers. Playing defense doesn't end when the shot goes up. He has 37 defensive rebounds this season. That's 2.5 a game. In retrospect, Shaw has 24 defense rebounds in a lot less minutes (122 mins vs 315 mins). Griff Just doesn't cut it from the 4 position.

And I like the kid, too. Just hasn't worked.

You're right Thanos, Purdue has one of the longest active home winning records in the nation.

So you are suggesting that playing Bertrand at the 4 position will generate more defensive rebounds.. because it isnt Shaw
that Weber is playing, hes going small.  But you are right Tyler isnt a great rebounder and I dont think he ever will be.  Still, he
needs to improve.  Lets face it though- Meyers is this years Davis when it comes to rebounds and our guards board well.

You say it just hasnt worked.  He averaged 2 min/gm last year and was up near 10 ppg in out of conf games, how bout givin
 the kid a break.
