http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/21/bears-bench-caleb-hanie-josh-mccown-will-start/

McCown will get the start this week.  Probably the best thing.  See if you have a viable back up for Cutler next year.  My guess is no but its worth a shot.

No sense if throwing Enderle out there.  Bears have plenty of time to evaluate him.  Plus that pretty much signals to the rest of the team that you are giving up on the season.

LOL, and throwing McCown, who hasn't started a game since 2007, out there is supposed to signal something different to the rest of the team? There are 2 games left in the season, the Bears have basically already been eliminated from the playoffs. I'd rather see what Enderle can do so the Bears don't waste another 4 years "evaluating" him, only to realize that he sucks, like they did with Haleb........

I doubt McCown is the Bears backup QB next season especially given that Martz is likely out and taking his overly complex, but very mediocre, offense with him. So the Bears should be able to sign a decent, older, former starter to be the backup QB.

And what are we going to find out Enderle can do?  Get sacked 15 times, throw 4 ints.  Dude threw 60 picks in college. He's projected out to be a backup anyway.  And he won't be the primary backup next season.  Sure he might look good, but they still won't have him as the #2 next year. The Bears will be signing somebody else to fill that roll.  Plus Enderle was a "Martz guy" as well.  So if he's gone there's going to be less commitment to him as well.

At least start a guy with NFL experience so you can evaluate other positions as well.  Kalil Bell, etc.  If McCown craps his pants as well, fine throw Enderle out there.  Makes more sense to start him against the Vikings anyway, that secondary is awful.

Let Caleb, McKown, and Enderlye (sp?), all battle for the back-up spot, but cut the other two, unless Enderlye will go practice squad.

DRAFT a QB, with a strong arm for the Windy City environment, in one of the later rounds.  (5-7)  This QB is the 3rd stringer on the roster.

Too much money invested in Cutler to bring in a bigger name back-up IMO, plus Caleb, McKown, or Enderlye, have to step up for the back-up.  JMO.

If he's still around, maybe we should give a look at this Harnish kid from NIU.  He looked pretty impressive before getting his ankle rolled up under a 300 lb lineman.  Looks to have a pretty strong arm, and has decent wheels, could probably be a better back-up than Hanie.
