The Military Bowl will be interesting to watch.Never thought I'd hear anyone say that.

Otherwise, Beckman was the one who was interesting. Over the weekend, he returned to Toledo for the Rockets? banquet, kept working on building a staff and started recruiting for the Illini.Illinois may learn today if they get the same exemption as Ohio State, which was allowed to have two coaching staffs in place: one to coach the bowl game, one to recruit for the future in the transition under coach Urban Meyer.?If you do it in Columbus, you should be able to do it in Champaign,?? Beckman said. While he offered the offensive coordinator job to Toledo interim coach Matt Campbell, who is a candidate to keep the job full-time, Beckman will meet with the current Illini staff today, including defensive coordinator Vic Koenning.?We?ll take our time and make sure we get winners,?? Beckman said.Beckman did some checking in Koenning?s background over the weekend, a sign that he?s seriously thinking about Koenning, who likely has some other offers.?We?ve passed in the hallway,?? Beckman said. ?I?m really looking forward to tomorrow.??
Beckman, Koenning to meet MondayKoenning, the Oklahoman with the drawl and cowboy boots, already won over Illini fans after overhauling the Illini defense and turning it into one of the best in the country... So when Tim Beckman was announced as Illini coach Friday, he heard plenty about Koenning at the reception with local boosters Friday. Beckman and Koenning will meet on Monday, and there's still a chance Koenning could be kept in the program.
@Turkin35 Spencer Turkin Head coach Tim Beckman on Vic Koenning "heck yea I want to keep him" #Illini
Go get Todd Monken!
