RPI isn't completely useless, but I tend to agree that people use that as an end all be all sometimes, when it should be used as just a piece to a bigger picture.
It can be used for coarse grouping, IMO, but not to the level of granularity some try to take it to.

Man, I've been online too long. At first I thought you said "coarse groping". Did a doubletake.  :icon_biggrin:

Not much more to add about the ugliness of that game, but two points for everyone to consider:

1.)  Back in July everyone on here was predicting an up and down season - lots of new/young players.  We all agreed we would have games like this - we had one, we won, just need the palyers to learn from it and move on.

2.)  Not sure about anyone else, but even when we were down 9 with about 6:00 to go, I felt like we would find a way to win. Completely different feeling than last year!

That makes 1 of us. We scored 30 points in 34 minutes. I had no reason to believe nor no sense that we would score 18 pts in 6 minutes and hold them to 4. We were doing nothing, hitting nothing, rebounding nothing on the offensive end, looked like we had no clue at either end. My sense was "Here we go again - our annual brain cramp loss."

...you can add me to your count... I'm with ya Yadi... now there is two!  who's next? :icon_biggrin:

Unfortunately I will admit I had absolutely no faith that we were going to win that game.  For all the reasons listed above.  ;)

I cant put most of the blame on Coach Weber...I'm going to put on him the part he can control...The offense and who plays in the offense...Now i dont know what he told the team in time outs and at half time...but he should have told them---"the next person that puts up a jump shot that's not 12 foot & in will be sitting by me for a long time.....Second i think he could have played Henry and tell him...no jump shots...go to the basket...I think He has to play Bertrand more so he can get his confindence back-i feel if he logs a few more minutes he will feel more comfortable when the team needs a slasher...

I also give him much credit for doing a pretty good job with the rotation with Egwu and Ibby....they will be ahead of most of the other accept tracy and i think he is taking a step back....he is getting in that Bad DJ and Paul mood....3 happy.......now he was on a 3 or 4 on 1 break - he drives to the lane and passes out to Dj for a 3 WTF..yep that was a bad decision.I also believe that Head can get to the basket.....This team needs to pick up the pace of the game early and that will help open up driving lanes and space for Meyers ...

The team has to work on passing -spacing- and learn the offense yep, that is why I keep saying they will be much better in 30-45 days because they will be better at those things.

I hope you are right...because we all know that Weber will tighten up on his rotation come Big 10 play.....i just wonder what they've been working on/ paying attention to all this time...This team has the desire and hustle they need the basics box out--chest pass -bounce pass-high low-....i feel that its not all ways the persons fault that's setting the pick/screen...but more the fault of the person who doesn't know how to take or use the pick right....

This team will need 10 or 11 players to make the season better........Sam needs a sub every 5 minutes and Dj needs to sit more until he can see that he needs to drive also...it just cant be on Brandon --Sam against some teams will be just a jump shooter because he can't get past the faster defender...so Brandon and DJ and Tyler all need to get better shots without them being 3's
When life gets tough........I get tougher
