Since this team is still young and getting its act together, I think the ISU game was good. They need to be in more situations where the game is on the line with a minute or less to go. Yes, it was ISU, but I was happy for the way they gutted out the win. I believe last year's team would have coughed up a loss right there. There are are so many ways this team can improve, and they just might surprise us, in a good way, a few times this season and make the tournament in the end.

Bottom line; they are so much more fun to watch than last year's team.

I agree that Gonzaga (ranked), Marylnd is on their court and Missery is also ranked. so that could be three losses and won't this board come down and start the fire Weber chant. Yet, no one in the preseason poll, on this board, had us better than 11-2. Why is that, people just don't become a good player over night, and people just don't become smart or stupid overnight either. Everyone picked them 10-3 & 11-2, some 9-4 because of a bad loss along the way (like  Bradley, etc,) So if we were smart enough then, why would we expect anything different now. The fact that the had a lead, lost it and come back in the final 7 minutes is hugh in the development of this team. Yes they look ugly, disoriented at times, BP3 sucks, DJ disappears, CH isn,t playing, Nananna is a foul machine and lost, TG isn,t tough enough, Mike can't shoot, Mike has a injury, on and on and on.
Maybe they won't end up being good, (I believe otherwise) but hey they won and are 5-0 and should be 6-0 when they go to Maryland. Additionally if you go to the pantagraph.com and look at the write up about the game, you,ll see that ISU was pointing to this game as a major engagement a little less than IL, I think.

Yeah agree.  I think I projected 3 losses OOC or maybe it was 2, but they are tracking where we thought they would be.

I am not as down on Griffey as some are.  Last game was a waste due to foul troubles, but to me he looks like a solid contributor to this team.

I am also high on ML, but he needs to hold a stronger base.  Those guys like Carmichael who are physically more mature than he is will give him trouble.  To those who say giving ML more minutes last season would have cost us games and possibly Bruce his job I cry bullfeathers.  Had a detailed set of posts on this board with another poster on this subject last year and there were hardly any games that him playing more could have even presented the opportunity to lose a winnable game. Secondly, the play the kids guys would have given him a much easier pass if he had invested in the future instead of trying to maximize the results of a group of average seniors.  We were like the 42-40 NBA team playing our veterans to get the 8th seed for the sake of getting our brains blown in by the Lakers.  If we were young there would be some benefit from that, but not for a bunch of seniors.

Egwu was very slow and reaching on D.  but it was the second of back to back games.  He is learning, better on post O, decent on post D (terrible on somebody driving).  He will contribute this year.

I could not give Sam the CotG.  The late three pointer was nice, but he made a horrible turnover at the end of the game that could have cost us the game AND missed the front end of a one and one in the closing minutes.  Finally he had 2 assists and 3 turnovers.  He seems to have a better ability to knock down a shot then to create an easy one for his teammates.  His conditioning should be causing trouble everywhere in his game, but mostly in his elevation on his shot and his ability to finish.  His post entry passes are not any better than others, and we stink at post entry passes.

DJ has been the veteran leader.  Yes he did not score much in the second half, but Bruce was trying to get BP going.  It was very intentional to get Paul going.  so DJ did not get many attempts in the second half.  He did play some good D and create a key turnover late.

Crandall's lakc of PT in the last two games is concerning.  There is something going on there.  Bert can give us good production off of the bench, but CH must still not be taking care of business in some form or fashion.

I am not as down on Griffey as some are.  Last game was a waste due to foul troubles, but to me he looks like a solid contributor to this team.  I am not down on him, I just want him to be more aggressive...he can do it but he has to be mentally ready every game.
