A less than stellar 1st half with alot of turn overs but ............. a win is a win. My COTG goes to DJ. He played solid defense and was money from the field. These kids play hard but they need to figure out the motion offense. With that being said ............................

Really impressed with Bertrand. He looks like he has come a long way. Love Egwu too. Once he stops fouling so much, hes going to be a stud.

No love for Bertrand?  11 points, team high 8 rebounds?

Even if Bertrand was a choice, DJ would have gotten my vote anyway.

DJ for sure he is still the most consistent player we have.  The offense looks out of tune at times which is fine now but bothers me when we play Maryland, Gonzaga etc...

Nanna is a legit freshman contributer I think Tracy and Shaw are too but they still have some improving on offense in the half court.

3-0 !
On paper, I can always convince myself that the talent is there to contend among college basketball's elite, even if it's obviously foolish to expect it.

FWIW, Maryland got beat by #16 Alabama by 20 pts so I don't think the Terps are world beaters this year. On the other hand, if we don't get control of the turnovers and fouls we won't beat anybody important either. I didn't actually see the game, but if gametracker is even remotely correct (and remotely correct is frequently the best that can be said about gametracker), it was a lot of hacking and a lot of throwing the ball all over the yard - almost twice as many TOs as assists. And 26 fouls for 26 opponents' FTs will get us beaten badly against decent teams.

We have a long way to go before we can even think about being competitive in the B1G.

DJ looked like the team leader.  He shot it pretty good, his D was good and he looked the most comfortable in the motion.  Still got a pass as he headed down the lane and the ball got tipped away.  He has the smarts and experience for the PG, but the ball handling is unfortunately not there.   :veryannoyed: .  Too bad, we would be a much better team if he could run the show effectively.

Yep the motion looked bad last night and when ML was not in post entry passes were either bad or nonexistent.  The motion created few open looks last night.  Passes into traffic, Shaw passed a terrible cross court pass easily intercepted.

ML is becoming a game changer, but can he stay in the game?
