The Marlins need a circus act to help get people in their new stadium. They got part of the act in Gullien (sp?). Zambrano would be perfect.

supposedly they are going after Aram too

The Braves traded Derek Lowe ($15 million next year) to the Indians for a single-A player today, with the Indians only picking up $5 million of that salary.

So if that's all you can get for a decent pitcher who doesn't have any baggage, I'm guessing the return on Zambrano (in terms of salary relief) would be even less than that.

Decent is overly generous.  He was absolutely terrible for 15 million...who the hell would want that?

Apparently the Indians would want that.   He was never great, but up to last year his numbers were consistently good for the years he pitched with LA and Atlanta, and the Indians must think he's still got one more good year in him.

Now you've got me looking a little closer at Lowe's numbers from last year (9-17, 5.05 ERA) compared to his previous two years with the Braves (15-10, 4.67 and 16-12, 4.00), and I'm realizing that if Lowe hadn't sucked so much in 2011, the Cardinals wouldn't have made the playoffs.

So up yours, Derek Lowe.

I'll bet you Lowe has an ERA over 6 next year.

Agreed...

My buddy is a huge Braves fan and pretty much solely blames Lowe for their collapse.  Sent me a text yesterday saying "Braves finally dumped lowe...only a few months too late".
