I've read that Epstein might be considered for a CEO type position and they will still go after a GM. I hope Epstein doesn't bring Francona over with him. Not that he isn't a decent manager, just want a fresh face and voice and no more retreads. Would like to give Ryno or Dave Martinez the chance to show what they can do.

How about Theo as President/GM, Francona as bench coach and sandberg as manager?

I don't know. I think who ever gets the hire as manager should be able to pick their own bench coach. I doubt if any manager wants their eventual replacement as the bench coach.

This is getting interesting. I would much rather have a Cardinals-Cubs NLCS than a Cards-Brewers series anyday.

How about Theo as President/GM, Francona as bench coach and sandberg as manager?

From the Twitter feed of ESPN Boston sportswriter Gordon Edes:

Hell yes....its something to get excited about for sure...a guy in charge that has been through a similar situation with another team, and also has a great reputation with players which will help in Free agency...a chance to end another curse!  :icon_biggrin:

still a lot of work to do, but if its done right, could be contending in 3 years.

Theo Epstein and the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a five-year, nearly $20 million deal for him to join the team, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney Wednesday.
