Who is it?

What do you think the Bulls will have to part with to get him?

Jamal Crawford - FA this year, will be expensive but would give a legit scorer. Doubbtful.
JR Smith - FA this year, expensive...will need to get rid of a few contracts but I really like him. 6'6 and extremely talented and athletic. Good range. Would love him on the squad.
Courtney Lee - FA in 2012, Houston may be looking to dump him. Ideally we would trade them very little...maybe Asik for Lee and a 1st?
OJ Mayo - FA in 2012, Memphis has no spot for him in their lineup...going to lose him anyways. Could see a deal involving Deng for Mayo and a pick potentiall?

Other FA's...Jason Richardson? Grant Hill (could be a cheap option and a good defender...this is my sleeper option right now)? Barbosa?

Matfive is big on Monta Ellis.  Certainly the drafting of Klay Thompson as a big 2 guard, Mark Jackson as new coach seems consistent with him being on the block.

Don't get to see too many Warriors games.  The scoring numbers are very impressive, but it does seem from the stats that he is a "volume shooter" and is not really a spread the floor shooter.  Functions more as a guy who can get his own shot and score, score score.

Smaller than most two guards.  Can use a Brewer or Bogans off of bench to clamp down on D.

What would it take to get him?

I dont think you can deal Deng anymore. he is a big part of this team. Too bad we had a couple of those guys here already

Probably get Eric Gordon

Yeah no way they deal Deng at this point.  He compliments Rose very well.

The corpse of Vince Carter is also a FA, so he could be a possibility.  The Bulls could probably get Mayo in a deal but it would require Gibson or Asik going the other way.  I really haven't heard what it would take to get Ellis yet either.

A lot is going to depend on the new labor deal that comes into play as well.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Noah's name floated in some rumors.  The Bulls are going to have to resign Rose soon to a max deal.  Between Noah, Boozer, Deng and the Rose that will be a lot of salary on the books.

the only problem with Deng is his contract, not the way he plays...if Deng was making a couple million less a year nobody would even think about dealing him

As it stands now those names you brought up are some options, but A LOT is going to change when the new CBA is hammered out guys...I mean A LOT....if it ends up being anything like when the NHL went to a hard cap back in 04, then you are going to be seeing all kinds of names changing teams because teams are going to have to dump players...there will be no holding out for the best deal, teams will HAVE to take the best offer they have on the table to clear cap space. Teams will have to make decisions on what players they want to move forward with and build teams around and a lot of players are going to become expendable, players the Bulls could possibly use, good Vet players possibly.

Monta Ellis makes 11 mill per season.  If Taj is the biggest chip to getting him you have to add players and salary to that trade to make it work.  Deng's salary would about do it, but like others have pointed out his contributions to this team are a major part of its success.

Agree that trading Deng is tough considering his role but the fact remains he just isnt the volume scorer we need. I think he is key to the team and that is why I am veyr hesistant in trading him. Not sure any of the SG options warrant trading him - unless we are sure to get Howard next year.

Monta Ellis is an option but it depends on what we give up to get him. I would give up our 1st next year, Charlottes 1st in 2014, with Brewer and Asik in a heartbeat. This would make it work with the cap too I believe and give GState a true center to go with Lee. My guess is GState doesnt send away Ellis at a discount and relatively speaking...we only be able to offer a low ball deal.

Vince Carter is another option. Cheap stop gap, can still play and is a bigger SG that can play defense. Better scoring option than Bogans and would mean we wouldnt need to trade away vital bench pieces to add a scoring SG. Allowing us to keep keys pieces in case we wanted to move on Howard.
