Derrick Rose is the best PG in the game. Assists are just another stat...when another PG can take over the game like he can, then I will rescind my statement. The only PG close to him in terms of taking over a game is CP3 but even he cant present the 1on1 matchup problems like Rose.

Mat, you think Howard/Boozer/Korver/Brewer/Rose is hands down a better line up than Miami's with Miller and Haslem off the bench? I would agree its a nasty team but not sure it guarantees rings.

Is that seriously a question? Miller = mediocre and I'll take my chances with a front line of Howard/Boozer vs Bosh/Haslem (or any other overage Anthony/Illgauskas/Dampier they try and throw out there). Howard is as close to unstoppable on offense and defense as it gets, young Shaq style dominance, a perennial defensive player of the year probably until he retires, the dude is a physical specimen that the NBA has only seen a few times in its history. Rose is only going to get better, more assists as well with Howard in the mix. I'll take Boozer as a 3rd option. I don't really think Korver starts in any lineup the Bulls throw out if they get Howard. You'd more likely see Butler starting at SF since he can play defense, so yeah, I like Howard/Boozer/Rose/Brewer/Butler better than Miami's big 3 + Miller/Haslem/Chalmers/even Curry (if they end up signing him).

The key difference is the positions the elite players play on the court, C and PG are more valuable positions on the court where most teams field mediocre talent (including the Heat) versus SF, PF, and SG in today's NBA outside of Lebron. I actually like a lineup where BigSexy/Boozer are defending Bosh and I think Brewer is pretty effective in guarding DWade (all the time) and LBJ (in short doses). Probably need to sign a veteran to help Butler out at SF, but I'd be okay with maybe someone like Rasul Butler helping Butler out at SF.

Bottom line is the Bulls need to take the chance. I'm 99.99999999999% certain it'll never happen because GarPax are just too damn conservative and overvalue the players they've drafted to make the deal, but it is fun to dream.......

Also, regarding your comment regarding DRose as the best PG in the NBA, I disagree, he's the best scoring PG, not the best overall PG. I'd much rather see a line of 20 pts, 10 Ass, and 5 Rbs out of DRose than his current line of 25 pts, 7 Ass, and 4 Rbs. I'd like to see DRose become more of a distributor (like DWill) to maximize his value as a PG, otherwise he's basically just another 2G that can score a lot (read DWade), but doesn't really get his teammates involved enough to beat teams with multiple scoring options that play solid defense (i.e., the Heat). In fact, his stat line looks a lot like DWade's, I just don't think DRose is going to have a very long career if he is going to continue to drive to the basket with such reckless abandon on a regular basis, he's too small and it will take a toll on his body as he gets older.

Note, that I believe DRose is a pass first PG and only dominates games with scoring because the Bulls have nobody else he can rely on when the team needs a bucket, but the point still remains. All the more reason for more scoring options and all the more reason why I dislike the Butler pick. Should of gone with Brooks, at least the dude can score......
