This article really got me fired up after reading it. The comments below are worth the read as well. This guy/editor is a joke and a complete mockery of intelligent, rational thought.

Yea I wasnt sure where it belonged - it was UofI related, happened at a sporting event, and was topical.

And he is the editor - most of the time the editors are students (grad or undergrad) I believe.

I think the comments at the bottom for the most part say it all...this guy is a moron...if I didn't know any better I'd say he did it to get hits on his blog (which is probably working)...although I cant imagine anybody being that dumb and also hateful at the same time and wanting to be viewed like that just to get attention on a website/ news site

I disagree with the wars as well, but not to the degree and from the angle this guy lashes out about...what a jerk and an embarrassment for the university ...I cant believe the DI printed that, they should be ashamed 

What an embarrassment that the DI actually put this garbage up for people to see.. A student newspaper since 1871, and they print this trash that probably wouldn't even get a hit on the National enquirer...I think the comments here by others already sum up what a compete jackass you look like Mr Green.  I hope you enjoy the hits you're probably getting on this piece, because after this I have a feeling a whole lot of people are not going to be clicking on or reading your nonsense.

I can understand a paper printing an unpopular opinion in order to show multiple views on the topic. I also imagine that the opinion stated will not get much support from most responders, as evidenced by the replies. Freedom of expression allows those with extreme views to be heard, but also allows the majority who oppose those views to be heard in a larger volume of responses.  Of course, when you state an opinion that is opposed by so many, you have to deal with the consequences of stating something unpopular to the majority.

I feel like this should be moved to In The News since he's not actually calling out the Block I, he's citing them as an example in a bigger rant against 9/11 remembrances.

Does this guy have a problem with WWII remembrances? I hope he realizes that half of the casualties from that war were European civilians. Wouldn't want to offend any of those German-Americans either. What about Pearl Harbor remembrances, does that offend the Japanese? 

Also, as much as I disagree with the author, he has every right to write this and every right to publish it if the D-I is willing to give it space. Blame the D-I, not the author, even if the author is a dickhead (IMO).
