Stricker: FedEx @ Cog Hill
« on: September 07, 2009, 01:16:29 PM »
Nice to see Steve Stricker in contention this week and if he wins will go into Cog Hill with the FedEx Cup points lead (pending Tigers finish).  I hope to see a nice Illini turn out at Cog Hill and hear some I-L-L... I-N-I chants for him!

Stricker just moved ahead of Casey and Mickelson for #2 in the World Golf Rankings!!     That is pretty spectacular.  He still doesn't seem to get too much camera time when he has played this year, which I think is okay for Stricker.  He doesn't seem to really want much of the attention.

I think he would have to win one of the final 2 tourneys and the FedEx Cup to get the POY.  Tigers numbers are pretty impressive, but the win today certainly closed the gap.  Stricker has played very well with Tiger when paired together.  Thought I heard Stricker had beat Tiger the last 3-4 rounds they were paired (not sure about 2nd rd this week).

#2 is pretty AWESOME!!

Welled he has played a couple times with Woods, so that gave him more face time. He beat him too while head to head. His putting is super. He is in a groove right now.

Steve and I had a handful of classes together at the U of I because we were the same major in the same college.

Unfortunately for me, my career path and earning power pales in comparison to Steve's!  :blush1:

Very, very happy to see and hear that he is doing so well.
