Illini Fans and Alumni Clubs
« on: August 27, 2009, 01:40:41 PM »
Are there any Illini fans in Upstate NY?  It is kind of lonely up here cheering for the beloved all by myself!

Look for an Alumni Group. . .  We've been with the Denver Illini since we have moved in.  Every Weekend football and basketball game there is a gathering at the same sports bar, which gives the groups good food and beer discounts.  They'll gather for big time weekday games as well.  I would imagine the GameDay game against MSU will be one of those this year.  The group got so large that it is now split and now there is a Boulder Chapter, which is way easier for my wife and I.

Oh and we are gathering with the ISU group this year for that football game at our bar.  We also have a Big Ten day where all the groups get together and network.

Where would I even begin looking for an Alumni Group - I'm not even an Alumn (if that matters).

Eh, I'm not an Alum but I went to a couple gatherings before my wife (an Alum) joined me.

Just spend a little time on google, I'm sure you'll find something as Illini Fans are EVERYWHERE.

Sorry, I split the topic and moved it here because I didn't want to derail the original topic.

I live in the Adirondack Mts. in upstate NY - about 4 hours north of the city.  The Austrailian is a little to far for me  :icon_biggrin:.

I'd maybe follow Alma as there might be other sites. . .  The next venue for the Rocky Mountain Illini was posted on there as well as the Western Slopes Illini (2 Colorado locations)

I'll take a look through Twitter tonight Mike - appreciate it.    I really don't visit Twitter too much, I guess I need to explore it more.
