Let's give some props to Coach Hartleb and the 25th ranked Fighting Illini baseball team!     :cheering:

Sweet.

I think the Illini-Nation.net co-ed softball team could give Northwestern a game.  :icon_biggrin:

Remember Phil Haig? He was recruited by Zook to play QB after Tim Brewster's son dropped us and went to Minnie when his dad got the job there. Haig had committed to minnie, but then switched and came here. Well, he isn't a great QB, but he is leading the Illini's pitchers with a 6-2 record, and is also a top tennis player. Funny how things work out. The Illini swept LSU earlier this year, and LSU is a top 5 program.

Haig is having a GREAT year.    I'm impressed with how Hartleb has this program rolling.   I wish more people paid attention to Illini Baseball.

It's a seasonal and geographical thing. The programs in the south and west play a bit longer, more home games, etc... It sucks. My buds that went to UC Riverside to play ball had B10 offers as well took the longer season and nicer weather.

Huh?   I'm talking about Illini fans, not the rest of the country.    Not sure what you mean.   My point is, the Illini baseball team was leading the B10 (now tied for 2nd) and they get very little attention.

It's not like they get any tv time or exposure in any sense, so its hard to expect Illini fans to give the baseball team much thought...

I guess so.   I'm not even sure the students go to many games.   With a team like this, the stands should be packed.

FI, I meant College BBall is regional and Geographical in terms of interest. Not alot of fans here, you go to the areas I mentioned it's packed.

I suppose you are right, there aren't any baseball fans in Illinois.

Sarcasm added.   :icon_biggrin:

It probably has more to do with program pedigree than geography Philly.   I would argue that there are more baseball fans in the midwest than anywhere else in the U.S.   The schools in the south and on the west coast are perennial powers, because they attract the nation's best talent.  If Illinois could put together several years of success, we would pack the stands too.  I admit that the spring weather in the midwest SUCKS for baseball.  If it isn't raining, it's cold, and who wants to play their college baseball in that kind of weather?    I'm happy for the Illini though.  I hope to see my son in the O&B in a few years!   :beg:
